Replaced a defective thermostat controller, capillary tube-bulb type by RobertShaw Controls Company. These units are very reliable and go back to the late 60′s, early 70′s. This DPST thermostat opens on temperature rise and has a toggle-type, snap-action mechanism and integral on-off switch is being used to control 4 heating elements inside a mold.
Since December 2011 I have worked on Quantity 3, Electrom TIG12C Motor Winding Analyzers. One unit was defective and not powering up. The unit had many faults which were diagnosed and repaired. The other 2 TIG12C units were inspected and a calibration was performed.
Verified the tank float switch with functioning correctly. A miniature sized hermetically sealed reed switch, with the actuator magnet being built into the float.
Continued to fix the LP2100 Stretch wrapper that had a collision with a forklift truck. The film tension, 1/2 hp, 90vdc drive was non-functional. Replaced a damaged 50kohm potentiometer on the film dancer arm and then trouble-shot the dc drive from KB Electronics, KBLC-120. Found an unsoldered connection on a fuse holder in the control panel (L1 ac power for the drive)causing an open circuit condition. It had sat all those years since 1997 barely connected, manually hooked onto the fuse holder solder tab. Soldered and put the machine back in service. I really enjoy the KB Electronics products, for ease of use and reliability. Also their technology is very serviceable/ repairable. It’s possible to find the majority of the semiconductors they use in their manufacture. The website is excellent as well, providing all the manuals and technical notes.

Trouble-shot a 5HP Pump motor that was in a wash stage of a Paint system. Used a Fluke 1587 insulation tester to check the WEG motor. Unit tested fine but the pump itself was malfunctioning.

Received a call-in to trouble-shoot and repair an Orion MA55-F227 stretch wrapping system. A 2amp control fuse was blowing repeatedly in the main panel. Isolated the wiring and machine end, where the short existed. Found a defective infeed photo-electric sensor, SICK WL2000-R1305 Replaced unit and re-ordered a spare for my local customer.

Fanuc Series 16-WB control on this Alpha-1B edm. Alarm 307 :APC Alarm: Y axis restore error. The machine position could not be restored in the absolute pulse coder for this axis. Performed the procedure for setting the machine origin zero point for the Y axis. Suspect machine y axis was moved during a PM while the machine power was off. On power up the battery backed up previous setting did not match the new position thus Alarm 307 was generated.
